Last Weekend, the arrowhead of Unity united.
Great day.
The director/producer team of Judah and Moshe have this thing on lockdown. I’m a brother and I work with my brother and watching brothers work together is special.
The balance of power, the give and take, the patience. Egos grow and the magic happens when we can surfs ontop of the egos. The bigger the egos, the greater the chance of riding a big wave. In the presence of talent, good timing and some luck, we’re surfing this thing all the way.
Who wants change?
I was 18, maybe 20 and used to fight with my father all the time.
I’d say, “No Dad, things are changing, the old way is leaving, there has got to be a more updated way of how we all deal with each other.”
He’d reply, “Things have always changed, son.” And inevitably continue, “There has always been war and there will always be war. Look back through history, there has always been wars.”
To which I would fight back, but I was outsmarted. I figured that there must have been a time of peace. I remember that hearing from some Hare Krishnas or maybe the Maharishi bunch that during the height of the Vedic culture, peace prevailed. But was it worldwide? Maybe I also heard that 2 or so thousand years ago during the Solomonic reign there was peace. But does that mean ‘worldwide’, or just ‘region wide’? - Was he right? Did it matter?
Regardless, when I wrote this song, I was going through a hell. I wanted the house and my precious family and my dear friends, I didn’t need all of my outside to disapear, but internally, I needed a change ~ a bigger perception that fit all of my feelings into my reality without it always feeling so bad. I needed a change and that is what I wrote about.
Recently friends of ours in Berlin held a big event, a party +. Haim and I composed this song to send over and uplift the vibe a bit. We asked guys from all over to perform Jim in St. Louis, Gianni in San Fran, Paul in Boulder, Jesse in Austin, Charlie in San Antonio, Trenell in D.C., Roi, Danny and Gershon in Tel Aviv, Jaques, Dima and Tony in Toronto, Erez in L.A., Alexey in Moscow, Ben, Jose, Haim, Yigal and me in NY. Come on your life is in your heart. Come on your life’s about to start!
Amazing night tonight at the studio..
Roberto finally was able to make it down to Brooklyn. Jose pulled up the new track that Yoni sent us and it was slamming.
The beat hits so hard, and Roberto’s lyrics are so on target!
Here’s a couple pics from the session. We’re going to work on the track for a few more days and I’ll post the mp3 here when it’s complete.
Big Love,
S
I labored and I found.
So many influences.
Lyrically, the deepest I could dig.
Musically, the influences are all over the place – rock, ballad, rap, folk.
It’s what I could get of my heart onto a disc.
Let me know what touches you.
4ever,
S
We woke up and walked downstairs, slowly. Yigal was asleep under the table. Erez saw me come in the room and grabbed the guitar. You gotta hear this, he said and started finger picking a groove, ba dam bamp – bump a dump. He gave me the guitar and picked up percussion. Dima was there, and slowly, we just on the fly started building this song, like we’re men with music-legos. We just pieced this song together and each guy that came in the room, he just fit right in and in 30 minutes we had this song. We rehearsed it early that evening for a half an hour and performed it that night. Really the writing of the song was still going on the first time we performed it, when everyone was jumping with us on stage, The vibe of the song, of everyone together, it just got higher and higher.
